I have had this kayak for about 10 months. I waited to write this review until I had paddled it in nearly every condition. I have paddled it on flat water in ponds, lakes and rivers. I have also paddled in some rather nasty weather with winds 25 -30 miles an hours and waves ranging from 1 foot to 2 1/2 feet. Initial stability: 4 out of 5
Secondary stability: 5, excellent. The boat edges extremely well and can make tight turns when leaning.
Pros: This boat shines in rough water. It cuts through the waves and just seems to float over them when headed directly at them. Due to my direction of travel I took paddled for 2 miles taking 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 foot waves broadside and the boat felt stable. Never felt like I might tip over. It has plenty of storage for a day trip or more. Kayak is fast enough to keep up with most others. The seat is adjustable and very comfortable, however, not good for rolling...see cons.
Cons: The boat weathercocks with a quartering toward wind. Even a slight wind. This is the main reason for not giving it 5 stars. I would have given a 4 1/2 if I could. The other thing you need to know is the boat is difficult to roll, but it is so stable you will probably never need to. If you are a person who just needs to roll your boat, you will find that the seat back sticks up above the deck on the lowest setting.
Summary: Overall a very solid boat that is stable and quite fast, turns on a dime. This will make a good all around kayak, suitable for rivers, rock gardens, ponds, lakes, coastal touring.
