Here is an update:
It would be great boat if not for the skeg. Stiff for a plastic boat the hatches and bulkheads are watertight, no leaks. The skeg has been a constant source of problems. I wouldn't consider buying another P&H boat, we've had 5, with their present skeg system.

My wife and I started paddling P&H sea kayaks in 1989. We have taken three classes from Derek Hutchinson and one from Nigel Foster, all thru Southern Exposure Sea Kayaks when they were in business. My wife has had a Baidarka Explorer and a Vela. I have had two Ice Floes and a Capella 173. We wanted plastic boats to take off and on a sailboat so I bought a Scorpio.

I like the way the boat paddles and it is very rigid for a plastic boat. The problem is the skeg. It is very poorly designed, a constant source of trouble, and ineffective if the sea builds. I was so unhappy with the skeg that I went out and bought a Valley Aquanaut HV RM (the bulkheads leak). I loved my P&H glass boats, wish I could say the same about the Scorpio.
