I have a 1947 17-foot square stern canoe from the Grumman Aircraft Company. I bought it in 1983 and it looks just as good. It has been painted and needs it every now and then. It leaks a little bit from one of the thousands of rivets. Otherwise, this canoe is solid and dependable. My three kids grew up being paddled around. Thirty years later my son and a friend used it for a three day trip down the John Day River. I will never sell this canoe. It is a family heirloom in my opinion.
