This is my first solo kayak, I thoroughly enjoy it and use it twice a week. I had the chance of using a friends Heritage Redfish 120 and felt now that I could compare, it is worth writing this review. Both are about 12' long, both designed for fishing. I would choose the Tarpon over the Redfish.
  • Advantage Redfish:
Seat was much more comfortable than the Tarpon.
The Redfish was more stable than the Tarpon.
  • Advantage Tarpon 120:
    The Tarpon tracks much better.
The storage compartments are much more accessible and the closing mechanism on the wells is much easier than the rubber grommet types of the Redfish.
The Refish has an open flat space that allows you move around a bit more while in the canoe, though I found my knee hitting the foot rest bar too much. In the end, I made the right choice between the two and feel good about the purchase I made.
