I have been quite happy with my purchase of this kayak and have used it for a couple of season. The weight is light enough for me to easily pick it up and move. I have had it out in choppy water conditions and some rolling wake from boats out further in the lake. It handled those conditions fine. I would not take it out in large wind blown waves though. The seat is okay, but if out for several hours, you are ready to get out. I have added a thin pad for the longer paddles. The rear storage area is convenient, but you sometimes have water accumulate there, perhaps from your paddle and certainly from wind blown waves.... not really a big deal if you are using a proper water proof bag. It is not a high end kayak, but economical and suites my needs.

I got my Intrepid 100X a few weeks ago; after finally putting a hole in my old kayak, (after years of abusing it). I did lots of research, considering numerous brands and models, many higher priced, but I found myself continuing to look at the Intrepid.

I find that it tracks well...not perfect, but good enough for me! It is easy to maneuver. I took it out on a large river, Peoria Lake...one of the very wide sections of the Illinois River. It was a windy day, with waves on my side of the river; and I was very pleased with how it handled those. One feature that really sold me on the kayak was the seat, that was advertised as being very comfortable. It is comfortable, but I was expecting a bit more from the company descriptions. The seat is more comfortable though than my old kayak, so not really a big issue.

Another feature that convinced me to get it was the rear storage deck. It is very convenient. Just make sure you have a water proof pack or bag, as it is exposed to any water that splashes; and I found that if in waves, there will be a bit of water there, but very easy to get out. I also like the small rear hatch, that is supposed to be water tight, and may be, but I always also put anything sensitive (phone) also in a ziplock baggie. There is a spot to place your phone that would be directly in front of you when in the cockpit; but I feel better having it more secure. The front hatch is not water tight and I have read criticism of that, but I found it to be a great spot for some neoprene gloves I carry, a bit of rope, and fishing gear. There are molded in rod holders at the rear storage deck. I have not tried those.

Overall, I am very happy with this kayak and do recommend it. You can spend lots more money; and get some very nice additional features, but the Intrepid provided me with just what I needed.
