I bought my QT17CL Alumacraft 17 ft lightweight 64 lbs in 1980. Many Quetico trips with it, and even the National Wild & Scenic Missouri River, in Montana, and countless others.
It portages nice. It paddles passably fast enough. It is stable enough for fishing.
And it is maneuverable on small rivers.
Marketing has sold us on Royalex & Kevlar, but Alumacraft owned the Boundary Waters for decades, first. These are still great boats & maintenance free.
