Edge 15 Description

The new Edge 15 design has a comfortable cockpit with performance features designed into it. A great boat for learning edge turns as it responds immediately to your movement, and when loaded and on a tour the rudder keeps you on track as it should. The fit is quite flexible in that smaller folks can still control it as well as larger paddlers looking for a performance fit. The Edge 15 is designed to play as well as tour, so when you see a wave, head on over and take a run on it!

A well designed and packed full of critical features needed to enjoy a long day or overnite trip. This Kayak does a lot of things well, including for be the overall size which will typically accommodate 97% of all trips spent on water. Too many people get a giant 17-19 ft sea kayak only to end up on Lakes and Rivers most of their life. This boat will track well in large lakes, but also maneuver up the crooked creeks, and able to turn sharply. Finally price, this is well suited to compete easily with many other models that cost 1400-2500 range. Only part I would change would be to add edging protection from day one to avoid scrapes on shallow river beds and entry or departure from shore.

I recently rented a Riot Edge 15 Kayak from Kim( gave 5-star review on 7/11/19 :)). I am a novice when it comes to Kayaking, and I found that the Edge was easy to maneuver and balance. I found it to be very versatile; roomy ( for my gear, etc.) yet light @ 58Ibs. It was so smooth sailing, with one of the most comfortable seats ever! Yet for all the ease and comfort; the rudder is sturdy and this boat handles great! I definitely give it 5-stars for it is an absolutely outstanding Kayak!!

I loved this little boat! It has great ability to track which for length and size in rough water I found surprising. The rudder system works well and hasn't jammed so far which is a must in some water conditions! It carries all I need easily, isn't so heavy as a small person I cannot put it on and off my car myself ( a must since I am only five feet!). It doesn't have the initial stability of some of the tubs I have paddled however the final stability is all I care about anyhow. I am not a novice nor am I a pro in great shape. As someone in-between, I found this boat to handle well. Very pleased!

Our kayak rental fleet is primarily made up of the Edge 15's in both rudder and skeg version. The Edge is a lively kayak with great stability and maneuverability. This is exactly what we need for rock hopping around the 100 Wild Islands. One of the most comfortable and adjustable seats you will ever sit in. This kayak will please kayakers with any level of experience.

I purchased two of these a few years back. They are sturdy and extremely comfortable. We use them on Long Island, Nassau County. Boys take them out with a small rod to fish. I have four children, so my goal is to acquire two more, possibly three, so mom and kids can be together on outings.

A friend of the family owns his own board shop in the Jersey shores and this is truly one of the biggest requested kayaks. This watercraft has the beauty of a sleek animal with the precision and grace of a rocket that can soar across the water. The skill level and recreation benefits make for a class in its own!

I rented an Edge 15 when I went ocean kayaking with some friends. It had more than enough room for my gear, it tracked quite well, and it glided across the water at a fast pace. I was very pleased with my experience.

I would give this a 5 except that the deck lines etc...are not the best quality and the hatch covers are starting to crack after 2 years.and I do store my boats inside. I like the way the boats move however.

I love this kayak. I am an experienced surf skier and have raced internationally on a surf ski, but I was looking for something more versatile that would also allow me to go on short paddling trips with friends but speed and sleekness in the water were of the highest requirements as well as price point. I am 5'0" and 115 lbs and having raced on surf skis, balance is not an issue. However, I also wanted something that my 6'1", 200 lbs +, very nervous about tipping in the the water husband could use.

For 6 weeks every Wednesday night I would go to the tryout event of a local paddle shop. I tried so many kayaks but I kept coming back to the Riot Edge 14.5. It performed the way I wanted. And with the rudder down, using the foot pedals I could move the rudder and track much like I was used to doing with a surf ski.

This boat is fast and tracks well even without the drop-down rudder and handles shallow water and the occasional obstacle with ease. It balances well when leaning hard to make a quick turn.

I do not regret this purchase. The only negatives are that it is a heavy beast and it seems to bend easily. While I could easily get a 19 foot surf ski on the top of my Honda Odyssey by myself, t 58 lbs I cannot even prop this boat up against my vehicle on my own.

I have managed to get my kayak on my husband's Honda Civic solo with the help of a Malone K-rack, but it is still a heavy sucker. I also found that it indents easily when strapped to the roof bars of my vehicle; however, a couple of days in the warm sun seems to allow it to mould back into shape.

Fiberglass boats are light and slick, but they are so fragile making navigating through shallow waters and the occasional beaver dam impossible without damaging the boat. There are pluses and minuses to both options.

For me, this kayak meets all my needs in terms of speed, balance, comfort, versatility, durability, short-trip storage requirements, and price point.

I tried a Riot Edge that belonged to a friend. It was very easy to handle and moved so smoothly through the water. And the size would be so easy to car top by myself. I would love to have one for myself to join my friend and wet a paddle.
