Rick makes a fine paddle....

Rick makes a fine paddle. I have two of his beaver tails and they are fine sturdy ash paddles that require no babying and minimum upkeep. I use these hard and I am not paranoid about damaging them since I got them both for well under $100! Tremendous value and nicely crafted. I requested a semi custom paddle with a slightly different blade profile that his standard otter tail ... no problem! I really like the Maine guide grip on it . It really lends itself to rolling the paddle for underwater recovery using the Indian hunting stroke. Rick selected a really nice piece of ash for this paddle the grain on the blade is patterned like a nice fish fillet. So if you want to get a nice piece of ash call Dri-Ki ! ;-)

I could not find much on...

I could not find much on the Dri-Ki that Rick makes so I took a chance and ordered two off ebay in 63" and 66". They were on the porch when I came in and I shocked at the how good they look and the profile. Wow! got 4 Shaw & Tenney that I love but would take Rick's paddles any day. Dri-Ki paddles That Rick makes are real surprise. Don't expect much contact but i would guess he busy making paddles.

First off, I do not know...

First off, I do not know or work for these people, or anyone else, I am just a guy that paddles, hikes, and camps like his life depends on it every chance I get. I just recently purchased this paddle from Rick at Dri-Ki Woodworking, and highly recommend anyone looking for a handcrafted paddle, from one solid piece of white ash (or any wood), to look into these fine people.

The price is excellent, the paddle is flawless, and looks like a heirloom piece, while functioning like a champ. May be a few ounces heavier than a carbon or lighter wood, but the white ash will be around after I am probably gone, glides in and out of the water beautifully, and allows me to maneuver my girl with little effort compared to the few plastics I have, not to mention how well she feels in my hand with each stroke, even at the end of the day. Great paddle, I will be buying another one soon and retiring my old plastics and woods for backups...
