First time paddle boarding…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 8/10/2015
First time paddle boarding which included an expert instructor Tim McAuley. First 90 minutes with him then additional 2 hours on our own on Smith Mountain Lake(500 miles of shoreline in central Virginia). Mild to moderate chop and plenty od boat traffic. The combo of the stable Yolo and excellent teaching had us comfortably navigating within 30 minutes. Seemed to tract well and handled wakes easily. Width fine for my wife (5'2" 125lb) but initially seemed narrow to me (6'3" 185lbs.) Pros Ease of use Cons Not quite wide enough (31.25 I think) for me but may been due to my size or being a first timer or both. Usage Beginner lessons on large lake, cruising

Purchased this as a used board from local dealer, wasn't sure about paddling as I'm 60 years old and small framed female. Fell in love with paddleboarding and now all of my family wants to paddle. Great fun! Getting a little exercise too! Pros Easy for one person to manage Cons Having to put it away after the weekend! Usage Lake paddling, touring

I just started paddling 4 weeks ago. After 3 times I decided I wanted to surf. Next thing you know I bought a used YOLO and can't wait to go out surfing. I am living on the beach in playa Zancudo, Costa Rica and I am addicted to the SUP. My board is a beginner surf model which is perfect for me at this stage in my surfing. Pros It is very stable and fast Cons It is heavy to carry, especially with a paddle as well. Usage Surfing

Great board for beginner. I just recently used one on a Wounded Warrior trip to Santa Cruz CA (Operation Surf). Nice and stable allowing me to get up on the board, despite my handicap legs. I was able to use it to catch some small waves with very little effort. Pros Very comfortable and user friendly. Cons Usage Light surfing.
