A very stable & versatile sport craft. Easy to lake fish from. Allows an older guy like me the ability to change positions while on the water ! From standing, to sitting in different positions, avoiding cramping or discomfort, extending my my time on the water !

I have owned the Voodoo for over a year and paddled it on lakes, rivers, ocean inlets, and even down a few class 2s and it has surpassed my expectations. I bought it for its weight capacity due to many camping trips and it has been able to haul over 100lbs of gear and also trash on clean ups to include tires with no real change to performance. It is extremely comfortable to sit or stand, has many great features such as gear tracks all along the standing surface and is easy to get back on even in deep water with a life vest on. Very stable yet also nimble to manuever for its size. Its definitely not the fastest but it's not meant to be. I have not went out solely fishing on it even though it's meant for fishing but it has been a great platform for fishing the few times I have fished off it.

This product is everything…

This product is everything it says it is. In fact its everything I want. Almost, A sturdy platform to get out on the water and relax as well as having enough storage to carry what I need to camp. My only complaint is how slow it is to paddle. Admittedly, I'm big (265lbs) but it is slower than the original Kaku Kahuna which I also own. I'm not a fisherman so perhaps you may not have to paddle far to fish. Mostly I like being on the water and using the flat board to lay down and get some sun. Occasionally I want to go some distance but this is not the board for that unless you put an electric motor on it. And from what I see in the videos available its an excellent platform for that.

I recently purchased one of these. I also own a 14 ft jon boat that has been gathering dust since i bought the voodoo. They are a little heavy at 75 pounds so i keep it on a trailer. Put a troller motor on the back and i can fish all day. Very stable and comfortable. Kevin is very good about answering any questions you may have in a timely manner. And judging by the number of used ones you see for sale they are definitely a keeper

I'm about 290lbs @ 40 years old with so-so balance. I needed something that was going to be able to handle my weight well enough to allow me the confidence to move around some and fish. I didn't want something that was just going to work. I wanted something that was going to work well.

First, a lot of kayak anglers in the KBF community seem to discount this model as a SUP and not a kayak. They are wrong. This is first and foremost a kayak and one that excels in kayak fishing. It's very stable. It doesn't even know my 290lbs are on it. The open deck allows for so much movement and freedom with rigging. You like to flip and pitch? This is your boat. It's like a kayak with the top of a skiff. Or a casting deck. FIVE Power Pole mounts on the back (want to motorize and add dual Power Poles? Do it!) covered with starboard and track running up the length of both sides of the boat. A seat that is as sturdy as any you have ever seen that has two seating positions without any adjustments needed. Want to sit comfortably 20+ inches off the deck? Slide up to the top perch. Need a better view? The seat was designed to stand on. All day comfort wherever you want to ride. Just an amazing design. I threw a larry chair in front of the Voodoo chair and my daughters can use it as a tandem. The options are literally endless. Oh, and this thing is pretty fast for it's size. I've heard a lot about the Voodoo's paddling efficiency and it's all true. It tracks straight and is as fast or faster than any of the big stable boats on the market.

The owner, Kevin Hawkins is very involved and available to answer questions personally. I can't tell you how much value add this ends up being. Customer service is outstanding and you can tell the owner himself stands behind his products and is passionate about the sport. Very high quality kayaks.

If you are in the market for a fishing kayak (or want a great option to take your dog out on the water with you), do yourself a favor and try out the Kaku Voodoo. Don't take my word for it. Demo one at a local shop. You won't regret it.

The Kaku Voodoo has taken my…

Submitted by: echapp88 on 1/12/2018

The Kaku Voodoo has taken my time on the water to a completely new level. First off, after many years of a SOT I found myself often sore, achy and tired after 4-6 hrs on the water casting & paddling. Not the case at all now, it is so easy to transition from sitting to leaning while paddling & fishing. Crazy stable, open concept and so much room. It was an adjustment with no “rails” or “wells” as I first felt like things would just fall off the deck but after a few trips, I have tethered my gear such a pliers, fish grips & paddle. No more worries on that. I have not faced waves but it has handled some heavy chop out on the Gulf, fast flowing river water, not rapids but close to that and in both situations it handled very well. The Voodoo paddles & tracks very well. I have about 20 hrs. on it between the river & Gulf and can’t wait for more. Cannot really call this a paddle-board or a kayak, it is like a hybrid skiff and I love it. I would highly recommend getting a demo paddle set-up if you are in the market for a SUP or Kayak. My Son has one and now my wife wants her own as well. I made the purchase from Lee Norris, Tally Yakkers Outfitters (TYO) in Tallahassee, Florida. Lee is experienced and knowledgeable about many paddle crafts and was great to work with.
