Well made and functional

The Vermont Waterways paddling adaptor is great. This very closely mimics the paddling stroke for C2/C1 paddling. I have raced and finished six AuSable River Canoe Marathons... this is the most competitive C2 field in the most prestigious race in the US. Many of the paddlers have 200-300 training hours or more. With a new baby, the Vermont Waterways Adaptor (on my C2) helps me get hours that closely mimic paddling. After talking to a Top 3 paddler in the US, I chose the VW Adaptor over other canoe trainers for a couple reasons... 1). It is very well made and equally as durable as the Concept 2 it is hooked on to. 2). It has two holes in bottom of paddle shaft about 6" apart for connecting rope... many other paddle trainers only have one rope hole distal on the paddle. If you paddle, you already know how important the 'catch' is to a powerful stroke. This two hole setup allows me to both closely mimic feeling of catch and a get the same feeling of driving down with my top hand as when I race in a C2. 3). Customer service. Hope is great at answering email... answered mine in a couple hours. You will not regret buying this well made, functional paddling adapter.

The Vermont Waterways Canoe…

Submitted by: c2g on 1/2/2004
The Vermont Waterways Canoe Paddling Adapter attaches to a Concept2 ergometer (rowing machine) and simulates sit-and-switch paddling with a bent shaft paddle. The unit is well-made, sturdy, and easy to assemble. Installation is quick. It only took about 20 minutes to assemble and install the unit. After the initial installation, switching between the standard Concept2 rowing setup and the canoe paddling adapter takes less than 10 minutes. The device does an excellent job of working the paddling muscles and simulating the bent-shaft paddling stroke. In addition to providing an excellent workout, it provides an easy way to analyze and improve your paddling technique.
