I just returned from a 2 day 12 mile river trip. My new Stohlquist Brik PFD did great. I have the mango and it goes great with my white breeze. I have no chafing on my arms or shoulders and overall the fit was great. I got a medium and was a little frustrated by the fact that the shoulder straps seemed long. They tightened up enough to be snug but it looks as though it was built for an extremely tall person. I am 5'10" by the way.

I agree with the previous review regarding the freedom of movement, but this pfd's design restricts (slightly) breathing. I admit it is hard to design something that is supposed to be snug around the chest that does not restrict breathing, but the fit of this pfd makes it uncomfortable, especially for strenuous outings, and makes it impossible to use in the winter, when you would have extra layers of clothing. If you buy it a size bigger, e.g. a large if you are a medium, you still have to tighten it down to stay in place, and thus you will have restricted breathing. I made the mistake of buying this off the internet. Learn from my mistake: Try it on, if not try it 'out', before buying.

Well-constructed PFD that has all of the flotation away from the shoulders, and also provides plenty of room below the arms so that it does not chafe when you paddling. I find it to be well suited for kayak paddling, as it provides a snug and comfortable fit and does not ride up at all. However, I would not recommend it for canoe paddling because the zipper pull jabs me in the right bicep when I am reaching across to paddle on my left side. The pfd also felt a bit restrictive when I used it for canoe paddling, as opposed to snug but comfortable when I used it in a kayak. The zipper problem could easily be remedied by installing the zipper so that it zips from top to bottom instead of bottom to top as it does now, but if you are only going to use the pfd for kayaking it won't be a problem.
