Skimmer 140 Tandem Description

Paddlers have been begging for a lightweight alternative to the heavy two-person polyethylene sit-on-tops on the market, so Hurricane put a tandem SOT deck on a proven lightweight hull design. Fully-featured from bow to stern with two 5.5-inch day hatches, a 10-inch bow hatch, two adjustable Airestream seat backs, and two new Skimmer Cushpads, the Skimmer 140T is designed for folks who like to spend time exploring with a friend. If a partner isn’t available, the addition of a clip-on seat allows the Skimmer 140T to be used solo, and this tandem is light enough that solo really is an option. Grab some paddles and PFD’s, the lightweight tandem sit-on-top you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived.

Excellently-made kayak.…

Excellently-made kayak. Tracks very well. Very stable. Best of all, it's light! Note that if you want to use it solo, you must attach a standard seat from a third-party manufacturer. There are points to clip into, but Hurricane does not supply a solo seat. Also, if you want to use footrests solo (I do not), you will need to reattach them to a new (marked) position.

I got this yak from my dad…

Submitted by: paddler450448 on 7/16/2018

I got this yak from my dad as a wedding present. Awesome yak that fits my wife and I comfortably and has room for our blue heeler. We haven't fished off it yet, but it seems stable enough and doesn't lag when we are out paddling with our friends. All around good kayak.
