Until my wife and I got a dog we had two single kayaks. With a 3rd member of the family we sold one of the singles and bought a Pelican Unison 136T. The separate seat makes a great place for the dog to sit and go along on my fishing trips. It's comfortable and easy to maneuver, especially when my 75 lb. fishing partner can't assist in the rowing chores. It easily fits on top of my vehicle for transport.

My fiancee was new to kayaking four years ago, so she wanted to start with a tandem first. We came across the Pelican Unison 136T at our local EMS store and quickly snagged it. It was a terrific buy; we have no regrets. This kayak is as stable as they come. It tracks well and for its size and weight, it scoots along pretty quickly, too. There is storage aplenty in the kayak, thanks to a very large rear storage hatch, a small waterproof storage well between the seats, and plenty of room both behind and in front of the rear seat. Same goes for in front of the front seat. I often put a cooler in front of the rear seat and can easily fit our fold-up kayak cart behind the rear seat. The cup holders are both good; not great, but better than most. Lastly, this is a pretty good looking kayak to boot. We've gotten plenty of compliments on its appearance, the large and wide cockpit, and all of the on-board features.

In my opinion this is a great kayak for people that are not exactly new to kayaking but are not experienced enough to want the best kayak on the market. I think that this kayak is very sturdy but still has some speed.

This is a sit in kayak so I use a skirt most of the time and I have had no issues with that. The seats are comfortable but I still use a pad to sit on because I get sore after a while. There are foot pegs which is great in my opinion! The price that I saw was about $650 which isn't too bad for a tandem kayak. I do believe that you are getting a pretty great kayak for the price.

I do wish that there was the option for a rudder with this one but I don't think that it is too long to stear without a rudder. Another thing to consider would be how long are you planning to be out with this kayak. There is not the biggest storage container so you will need to keep that in mind, but for day trips I think it's a nice buy!

For a tandem kayak, it is light, and quite manageable. I can easily load this on the top of my truck and carry it to the waterfront. For its size, it tracks great, turns OK and has pretty good speed. I am able to go out by myself, with just my pup in the front seat.

I do carry issue with the floppy bottom, but I assume it's thin molded plastic to keep weight down. Scored really easy over some light rocks. I also dislike the width of this kayak, makes it much more stable and leaves lots of room for comfort, but it makes paddling more difficult.
Overall great for the price, and quick for its size.

This is a fabulous kayak!! Great quality, an excellent product for its price!

It's easy to maneuver, and can fit me and my 2 children (ages 5 and 9) in it at once. Usually we will have my little one sit with an adult, in the large cockpit and my oldest one sits up front. Or it will be just me and my little one and my oldest is in a single kayak. We also own the Escape 100x which matches the Unison almost perfectly :-)

We get alot of compliments on our kayaks!

My husband and I have a solo kayak but talked about getting a tandem for several years. The price delayed us. This year we bought a pelican alliance a lower end style than the unison. It is a very stable kayak tracks well and can take some small waves. Our friends saw ours and bought a unison. We kayak practically every weekend and have thoroughly enjoyed it. We have even contemplated doing a day trip with it. Its easy to load with two people. The seats get a little uncomfortable after a few hours but are tolerable. It's well made, and comfortable, the best part is the large cockpits, I have a knee problem, even after several hours, in the kayak,I don't find it that difficult to get out of it. As a recreational kayak I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Was looking for a nice, stable tandem kayak for my wife and I to do some lake and river paddling without breaking the bank. Ran across the Pelican Unison 136T while doing some research online and everyone seemed to like it. Since the price was right, I picked one up and WOW - I was not disappointed!

The seats are more than comfortable enough for several hours on the water and the footrests are easily adjustable. There is adequate dry storage - one large store in the back and one that will fit cellphones, keys, etc. in the middle. One drink holder for each paddler. The Unison is fairly light and is easy to carry with handles located on the bow and stern decks.

In the water, this kayak is awesome - it tracks and turns beautifully and is very forgiving, even with heavy paddler movement or chop. Much more stable than our canoe. So far, we've had it on our local lakes, in the marshlands of the Chesapeake Bay and in the Susquehanna River. The Unison handled them all with ease, even in some moderate tidal current.

Overall, a quality boat made with quality materials, built for solid recreational fun. Couldn't be happier with the purchase!

Best purchase ever! Want a 2 person something, but decided against a canoe because of the wieght of them. This tandem checks in at a measly 68lbs. Nice and light for the wife and I to throw on the car roof with ease. And the stability can't be matched! Being low to the water and being able to reach down and scoop up a refreshing cool down splash on your head without feeling like you're gonna tip over is amazing! The speed, handling, and responsiveness is unmatched to any other paddle powered vessel I have been in/on!!

This a very affordable quality sit in tandem kayak. We found it it to be well made stable and nice for recreational kayaking. For the money you can not beat this as a tandem kayak. The seating and features are adequate with out being cheap. I have only seem one tandem sit in less expensive it is was just plain cheap compared to this which is well made and looks sharp.

This is a kick around the lake or river kayak for 2-4 hrs. If you're more into longer trips make the investment and plan on paying double the price it get one with better seats and more bells and whistles. We have had two 200+ lbs folks in and they found it to be comfortable and very stable. My inlaws who are in their late sixties loved their experience in so much they are buying one.

So overall this is an excellent purchase for and economy tandem product for light recreational kayaking.
