I bought the Dunhams sports version called a Ultimate 100 SE. This was my first Kayak. It felt twitchy to sit in until I learned my balance point. Now it is fantastic. I took it down the river this past weekend and had a blast. Had no issues at all! This is a great first time kayak, doesn't track perfectly straight but you also don't pay for that option. It isn't bad if you are just causal paddling but if you are trying to power paddle its gonna go offline on you.

Overall I am super pleased with it. I just upgraded to a Dagger Axis, same size boat but better built. Had I not had a positive experience in this Pelican I would not have gone any further.

My wife, daughter and I rented 3 Pelican Kayaks (Matrix 100x's) for a 5 hour kayak trip. The river was slow, with about 8 low areas/ rapids. The Matrix did a great job. I'm 230 lbs, and it didn't get hung up as often as other kayaks I've rented (about 15 kayaks). Plenty of storage space, the seat was comfortable, and the foot pegs were helpful and easily accessible. I'd definitely recommend this kayak.

I have the fortune to own a Pelican International Matrix 100, we took them out over the weekend, crossing part of Greers Ferry Lake to go to Sugarloaf Mountain. The lake was busy that day and we didn't have any problems maintaining control of the kayak as speed boats passed us on each side.
Highly recommend this kayak

Bought this as a first kayak and liked the look, price, and accessories but took it out for a 3 hour tour of local lakes and found it to be very tippy and hard to keep straight. The seat back was not high enough and caused me considerable lower back pain. I ended up returning it and getting a 10 foot Future Beach Vortex. I will write a review as soon as I get it in the water.

Sorry the Pelican Matrix didn't work out, it was well made and looked great and very lite. May be better for a smaller person, I am 6.0"
