Love this drysuit!
After looking at spending a grand on Kokatat I'm so glad I found my Torrent on an amazing sale in my size. No leaks, even with regular testing Size seems good, I know some complain about waist tightness but it isn't an issue for me. This will keep me warm and cozy for many years to come.

I've had the Torrent for about 3 winters now. Probably use it 6-10 times a season, not a great fan of cold water but I need to get out. This suit is a fine solution for that. I use it for Sea Kayaking, understanding that it was designed for whitewater. Truth is, not a lot of daylight between the two when it's a drysuit you're talking about.

I got this unit on sale at a point when Palm was phasing out XP150 fabric for the next generation (XP 175, or some such). It was a great value. Comes with all the features other manufacturers charge extra for. I have not had a single leak, and I have caught it on brambles at the put-in/take-out at least once a season. The waist is proportionately a tad smallish and tight. But shoulder fit is generous. Not sure how I feel about the zipper. But I added a long pull that allows self entry and extraction.

My beefs, other than the tight waist, are few. It seems to have a larger than average number of panels and corresponding taping on the interior. Thus it's long term survivability may be moderate. Then again, even at list price it's an excellent value. The footies are also a bit snug. My suit is a Medium, it fits my 6' frame, but the waist feels like it's about 32" and the feet are maybe a size 10 1/2. Both of those are about a size too small for me, but I'd be swimming in a Large.

Overall - well worth it and highly recommended. Just try it on first for the best fit, and don't expect it to last forever.

After deliberating for months…

After deliberating for months on which drysuit to get, I picked the torrent for the best combination of features at the best price. the nrs extreme looked nice, but didn't have the double skirt. of course the kokatats looked great but to get booties, a relief zipper, double skirt it was a big chunk of change. for $489 incl shipping, this suit has all the features i was looking for in a drysuit. the material is 'xp150' which i have found to be more breathable than i expected. i paddle hard and sweat a lot, and haven't been more than a bit moist in the polypro base layer. the waist may be a bit tight if you have a belly, but doesn't feel a whole lot tighter than my neo skirt alone. the zipper is across the back - from shoulder to shoulder - which is different than just about every other brand out there. it's nice once it's on - you have complete freedom of movement - but it's a bit of a trick to get zipped by yourself. the quality of construction is outstanding - it looks like it is built to last. the stikine has a more durable fabric which may be a factor for whitewater/rock paddling or alaskan expeditions, but the torrent is plenty solid and perfect for kayak touring. the fit is good and roomy, and it's a sharp looker - it looks better than the stock photo would lead you to believe. i haven't had any leakages while rolling whatsoever. overall, i'm pleased with the suit and have no regrets about purchasing it.
