Beach LT Description

Oru Kayak was started to make the outdoors more accessible—and the Beach is our clearest expression of that goal. It's the easiest collapsible boat in the world to put together, taking just three minutes. Its 28" width makes it stable and comfortable. The open cockpit makes entry a breeze, for paddlers of all shapes and sizes. It's perfect for fun, spontaneous day trips, and sharing with friends and family. While it may be our friendliest boat, it's still built to our usual high standards of strength and durability. And of course it's as easy on the eyes as it is on the water.

  1. Portability - B
  2. Storage - A
  3. Durability - F
  4. Customer support - C

My family has 2 Inlets and a Beach LT between us. All 3 were replaced during the warranty period for holes that happen at the fold points. Not on the seams, but rather at the corners where multiple seams come together. Now one of the Inlets has the same issue again. All these issues occurred with less than 12 outings. We are careful and don't scape the corners on rocks (or across the garage floor). We are careful to get in and out in water deep enough not to bottom out.

This is just normal use of a kayak and they don't stand up to that.

The kayaks didn't leak internally, just into the channels in the corrugated plastic they are made of, but once the other side of the plastic is compromised not clear how long until the inner side is also compromised.

They are a great idea but just not durable enough given the proce

Awful quality and product support.

I received my Oru Beach LT kayak, and there was a hole and a soon-to-be-another hole in its bottom. My husband's kayak didn't have a hole but it has a few weak spots that will become holes after 1-2 uses. The material seems cheap and it has many unfinished and sharp plastic edges – my husband hurted his hand while inspecting it because of this hole.

Oru's support is extremely bad. They either reply slow or don't reply at all. After I shipped the defective kayak back to them, they stopped answering my emails. To me, they seem to be a scam company.

I made my order in May. Now it's the end of June, and I have no idea when I will receive the replacement (and whether I will receive it at all.)

As a Manhattan apartment resident, there's no possibility for storing a hard-shell, and my wife and I have had inflatables for almost 10 years. On vacations we've had access to various kayaks, but this is a great option for getting out more often without an expensive rental. Quick assembly - under 10 minutes even in the first few times out, and relatively easy also to wipe down and fold. Handles quite well on relatively easy water. I wouldn't recommend on a super windy day or for anything more than light river current. At 26 lbs, it's easy to lug from car to set up and back.

I am very impressed with the Beach. It is quite easy to assemble for a normal person. I have had some difficulty because of physical issues related to my third cancer. While I have folded and unfolded it many times since I purchased it, I prefer to leave it assembled as I can fit it in my minivan. It is an amazing craft and I have only had a couple of issues. I installed hip and knee braces with Velcro to keep me comfortable and centered. I also added a skeg to improve tracking. I love my Borealis XL but it is 46 lbs vs 26 for the ORU and in my weakened state the ORU is much more manageable.

I hope ORU will add a larger cockpit to its other models. I would love to get a Coast + if I could get a 19"x 36"opening.
