We used this kayak in…
We used this kayak in Eklutna lake in Chugach national park, Alaska. I mention this because going down wind was very easy and effortless. The kayak was easy to turn and the rudder was very receptive to changes. On the way back, upwind, we had waves crashing into us constantly and the wind’s gusto made it extremely difficult to get anywhere fast - but the kayak was stable and I trusted it tremendously. The kayak did not sway even being in choppy windy conditions. Even when we were parallel to the waves and wind, the kayak held its own. Once again, the rudders were very responsive and changes directions with ease. The make of the kayak is sturdy, and wouldn’t tip over unless you stand in it. I would buy this kayak in a heartbeat.

The Necky product line is just what I was looking for in quality and performance. I am not a specialist for seasoned kayakers to review my recommendations but as a beginner in the kayak world, I am very satisfied.
Very easy to maneuver, and so light compared to my 14 foot cedar strip (another reason that I made the switch to kayaks) The storage is great and I have added a couple of accessories. It is easy to get in and out of. After 4 hours of paddling, a more enclosed cockpit would be a struggle, but the Looksha makes that compromise, and I appreciate the ease of entry.
Very easy to hoist onto my truck rack, very easy to paddle, looks great too. Fantastic seat.
All-in-all, this is a 10!!
The Necky Looksha 12 SI has…
The Necky Looksha 12 SI has great handling for an intermediate skills kayaker. It's a perfect fit for my 5'1" frame. The narrower cockpit width prevents splashing paddle water on myself. The hull with its many angled surfaces glides very easily through the water. Best kayak for my frame and skill!
My wife and I are in…
The Looksha 12s are great performing boats for us. They are big enough that we won't out grow them but small enough to haul and store. With the hull design, two hatches and a great seat for us we couldn't ask for a better combination. With the dealer service from LCM Inc. and even meeting the Necky rep at LCM's expo this has been a great venture for us.

I just upgraded from a 10'…
I just upgraded from a 10' recreational kayak to the Looksha 12si and what a difference. I do mostly lake paddling for now and this yak glides nicely and tracks straight. It gets rough in the afternoons with the winds and boat traffic, and the Necky cuts right through the waves!! The seat is really comfortable even after a couple of hours in it. It weighs 50lbs so I can still lift it up on top of the car.
I would highly recommend this kayak to anyone looking for a day touring yak.

I have the Looksha 12 SI and…
I have the Looksha 12 SI and my husband has the Looksha 12. We love them. The Looksha has the most comfortable seat and back rest of any kayak we tried. They are stable and easy to maneuver in the back country. Though not the lightest ones we tried, they weigh about 50 pounds and we can easily put them on top of our Jeep for transfer. Try them, you will be glad you did.

I use it for one to two night trips on rivers in the Midwest and for fishing on small lakes and ponds. I chose this kayak over other similar kayaks due to its large storage capacity for its length. I feel that the performance is good. It has fair maneuverability and tracks well. It is a kayak that is good for many types of boating. The adjustable seat is very comfortable. It takes a good bit of abuse from unloading and loading on rocky banks and concrete boat ramps as well as bottoming out on sand and rocks. There are visible signs (small scratches on the bottom of the boat) from the wear but seams to be a long way from punctures or any leakage in the hull.
Overall I am well satisfied with this boat. It is a boat that can get you though the moving water but still fairs well on the larger slower rivers and small lakes and ponds.
