This is an update of my previous review.
Since my last review I've camped with this sleeping bag at below 32 degrees---there were ice crystals on my tent in the morning---and I was warm even without extra clothing, confirming that the temperature rating is accurate.

This bag has been redesigned for 2012. Specifically the neck opening is now quite a bit narrower. That's too bad, because the wide opening was a positive feature on the previous model.

Why this sleeping bag is just about the best buy you will find anywhere:
  1. It's very cheap for the quality and weight.
  2. It's one of the very few down sleeping bags on the market that will fit a larger person. The size may be called "semi-rectangular," but essentially this is a large mummy bag that will keep you enveloped in down on all sides, including a hood. There is lots of room to stretch out your knees without being in a cramped fetal position all night.
  3. This bag is very light for its size! You can find 2-lb mummy bags, but not this large. It's so light it qualifies as a backpacking bag.
  4. LL Bean is honest and accurate with their temperature ratings. I haven't had this bag down to 35 degrees yet, but the amount of loft tells me that it will be warm at that temperature.
  5. The fabric of this bag is very comfortable both inside and out. The top surface is water repellent.
  6. LL Bean has an incredible return policy if you’re not happy with any product.
This is the perfect 3-season sleeping bag for kayak campers, backpackers, and car campers.
