PROS: I bought the black...

PROS: I bought the black jack low profile 12. Its lower and sleeker looking makes it easier to get in and out and cut thru the water with ease. The look is awesome with lots of compliments looking at glide in the water. light weight canoe I can carry with one hand easy and the paddle is 7oz.

CONS: very sharp edges like a knife I cut my finger really deep in the crease on it thinking a bead of silicone may help. it scratches really easy and makes it look very use. don't scuff it up on shore or hit any stones. people with you want to help with it not realizing its so lite and can cause damage dragging it. annoying to have to be so cautious as it cost so much. I don't want people to help ...

I purchased a used 12 ft carbon boat which was used only 2 times. I am very happy with it. It is very light, sturdy and handles great. The negative is that it scratches easily and in a white color which makes it stand out.

The Blackjack is a dream...

The Blackjack is a dream to carry and a nightmare to use. It is extremely difficult to get into and out of. Sitting on the foam pad that is way too low for an ergonomically functional seat makes your shoulders cramp unless you bark up your knuckles on the gunwales. The thwarts and gunwales are thin sheets of carbon cloth with sharp edges and really, would it have killed them to put something on there to round them off? Performance in the water is just about what you 'd expect from a wallowing rubber duckie. I paddled a friends and i was underwhelmed to say the least. The price may be right and the performance adequate for low speed, short distance puddle-jumping but for covering any kind of distance this is not the boat to use.

The Black Jack is nearly perfect. Comfortable, super light and beautiful, it paddles like a dream. Tracking is impressive. Not really a river boat, it's perfect for pond hopping and handles the winds of a big lake with ease.
