This boat is a good…

Submitted by: paddler236222 on 8/10/2015
This boat is a good recreational tandem kayak for lakes, salt ponds, and lazy rivers. It tracks straight and is well constructed. The boat is durable and the seats are comfortable for a day paddle. This is a sit inside kayak that has no bulkheads or flotation built into it, and if it swamps it will need to be pulled ashore to dump out the water. There is no chance to salvage the boat while it is in the water, so it is not something that you can use in the ocean safely. There is one big cockpit in recreational kayaks like this with no dry bulkheads.

When I use this boat on larger, busy lakes or on Narragansett Bay, sometimes waves will come over the side or the bow. I bought a Harmony tandem spray skirt for this boat to help prevent it from swamping. This does help quite a bit, but there is always a chance that the skirt will collapse in when it gets weighed down by a lot of water.

This boat is about average in weight for a tandem kayak at 70 pounds. The limitations of this boat notwithstanding, it is a great recreational boat for lakes, salt ponds, and lazy rivers as I stated above. I would not recommend it for any rough water conditions.
