This is the first kayak we bought and it was a good learning boat. Very stable in the water and not too heavy that it can't be hauled by a single person. The boat is practically flat on the bottom and very wide, so it isn't fast at all and doesn't track well. Good for rivers.

I have owned this kayak for about 2 months and I cannot say I’m satisfied with the use of it. Yes, it does have a lot of storage space and room. But it scratches really easy. Also, it cracked within those two months and had a dent in the back on the hull. It was a bit above average for speed but I wouldn’t recommend it for advanced users. Very stable kayak and perfect for beginners. Just be careful and don’t drag it around on the ground or bump into any rocky areas in the water.

Rugged beginner kayak. That about says it all. It also features 2 storage areas. Make sure to snap on the covers properly so they dont come loose and get lost. The carry handles are convenient and there are some bungees to hold things down. Cup holder up front is a decent size. This thing can definitely take a beating and makes it a great affordable beginner class kayak. I found one for 179 and is a great second/backup kayak as well.

Bought this kayak early last spring. Took it out a couple times a week all summer. Started out just paddling our local river for exercise. Since I was quite often goin out by myself there was a lot of upstream paddling.

Late last summer I tried fishing from it for the first time. Ended up making multiple fishing trips in this little kayak.

So far no complaints.

I purchased this kayak 4 years ago as my first kayak. I had no experience, but I knew I had to own one of my own. This is so comfortable, I love the large cup holder and there is plenty of storage space. The adjustable foot rests are simple and easy to adjust. Due to the design, it's also very stable. I do wish the seat were a bit lower and that there were knee pads on the sides, but overall I've been extremely happy with this kayak. She has many miles on her as we have kayaked many, many streams, creeks, lakes, and rivers. My seat is broken and I lost my back storage lid, but they are replaceable through the manufacturer, and I will be ordering replacements. I have loved this kayak so much that I've had several friends purchase it as well. The selection of colors makes it tough to choose, and the price through Dunham's can't be beat.

Good Value and Very Fun

Submitted by: Linux_Guy on 9/14/2017

Bought this as an upgrade for my Sun Dolphin Aruba SS Kayak. It's very stable. The foot pedals and padded seat make it comfortable. Lot's of storage and two cup holders. Tethered drain plugs screw in and provide good drainage. Has a bungee cord paddle holder. I picked it up cheap with a coupon from Dunham's for $180 in 2017. I highly recommend this as a value kayak.

I bought the explorer after much study and internet investigation. I learned that it was very stable because of its hull design and this information was on the money.it doesn't have a lot of options, but at the low price, you can trick it up and still be ahead of the others. I, for one, love this kayak.

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 6/14/2016
I have owned my Future Beach Explorer for a few months now and have taken it on several trips. It is the first kayak I have owned. What initially attracted me to it was the pontoon shaped hull. As a beginner I wanted something stable and the Explorer is definitely stable. It tracks well and while it is a little slow to turn it works well enough for me. I have mainly used it on the lake but have taken it down river without issue. I found mine on sale for $180 (Dunham's Sports), I feel this is a good price for the boat, considering what it is. Simply put its a great boat for an introduction to kayaking. If you find you enjoy kayaking, as I have, then you will outgrow this boat quickly. You will want something faster, or that can haul a bit more weight. I am already looking for my next kayak, but this one will be nice to have around for friends to use. The biggest con to this boat in my opinion is the material. It feels like a crayon, and scratches pretty easily. While I don't think I could easily drag a hole in it, it does cross my mind.

Love this yak. It was a great choice for me, handles well, I chose lime green color. Considered others but went with this one. I liked the hull design and the easy way to enter and exit the yak. The seat is o.k. but I will take a cushion with me every time I go for long periods. Had it out for the first time this week. Was a birthday gift from my husband.

Submitted by: killswitch on 5/5/2016
Just got the Future Beach Explorer 10.4 si. It is a great entery level kayak for the price. I am happy with it and plan on upgradeing it with accesories for fishing. It doesnt have pole holders, but it does have spots marked on its deck for them. It weighs 40 lbs and has handles to carry at both ends-which makes it easy to move for two people. My wife just wishes it had more color options.
