Bought two of these 12'...

Bought two of these 12' sit in style angling kayaks from Dicks Sporting Goods. Overall I love the kayaks and would recommend for beginners like myself.
Positives: cuts water nicely, stable when entering, not too heavy for size - I can lift them on top of the J-Rac carriers on my Jeep Grand Cherokee by myself. Stable in the water with casting when perpendicular to current. Negatives: hard to empty water out of the inside no scupper, no forward facing rod holders, Foot bracing does not lock into place well, loose plastic pieces in foot bracing can be lost easily. May not be the best fast current kayaks but work really well on lakes and slow moving currents.

Bought as my first...

Bought as my first kayak bought it for some paddling and fishing paddles easy and handles well plastic is a little soft but isn't a hinderance 1st kayak but have a lot of experience with canoes and row boats good deal at it's price as I bought it on sale and saved about $200 off usual price

This kayak is really nice,...

This kayak is really nice, especially for a beginner or recreational user. It has loads of storage! You can pack this boat to the gills! The dry box comes out too if you just want to stack stuff on the back, which I love. II is very roomy when you are sitting and quite comfortable and extremely stable. My 13 year old says it should have a better cup/water bottle holder, lol! That and that it is not very light are the only complaints. We like this yak a lot!

This was my first kayak...

This was my first kayak purchase. Both my husband and I bought the same kayaks. I like how steady the kayak is. We use ours for rivers and streams mostly. It is a nice boat for fishing as it comes with some of those perks. I would buy it again.

I bought my Eagle Talon 12...

I bought my Eagle Talon 12 about 8 weeks ago. I am a big man of 290# and 5'11". This kayak has great stability and tracks well. I have been in open water and in moving rivers. I have learned how to guide it where I wanted to go in moving rivers and it is a breeze in open lakes or ponds. The seat that came with boat was useless so I modified a hard seat to foam and it fits into the scrubber holes and works very well and is very comfortable. This is a good Kayak for the first time buyer due to cost and it is very versatile. Nice fishing kayak also. Has plenty of room for all your gear. I have learned that it is not necessary to carry 4 or 5 rods. Stick to the couple rods you like the best.

This is a great value kayak. Tracks well, comfortable, and isn't too heavy. If you can still find one, you can't beat it for the price.

I have owned the Eagle Run...

I have owned the Eagle Run kayak from Field and Stream for several months, and find it to be a very versatile boat. The only drawback I have with it is the weight which is about 60 pounds. being 78 years of age it is a bit of a challenge to load on top of a car, but have arranged a good system to do it, using rollers on my car racks, and cushion the trunk with a bath mat.. Works great.. I have also installed a battery box/transom located directly behind the seat, and use a Minnkota 30 trolling motor to power the boat across the lake at 4 mph.. Works great and receives a lot of attention.. All in all I am very pleased with the quality and maneuverability of this kayak.

Great Kayak. Very durable and easy to maneuver in windy conditions. Fishing in it has been a complete joy and I'm able to bring ample tackle for any journey. Light weight (60 lbs.) means packing and unpacking it by myself in rugged Utah is easy breezy! I would recommend this kayak to anyone!

bought this yak for...

bought this yak for occasional lake paddling and fishing.. Have outfitted it with a tandem mounted trolling motor, and it works fantastic. Plenty of room, a bit heavy, but not too bad.. tracks very well with paddles or the trolling motor.. Very pleased with it overall. A more comfortable seat will raise the score a bit. Thanks for a great product.

My boys and I bought 3...

My boys and I bought 3 Eagle Runs this spring. We love them, caught plenty of fish. They are very roomy and that is even for me, I weigh 295, and I have plenty of space. Track very well and move great through the water. Only had them on lakes so far.

Negatives: Pretty heavy. Bottom seems a little thin for as heavy as the kayak is. Seat is not very comfortable for any of us and my boys weigh 140 and 80 lbs. Should have a better quality seat for the price. We got them on sale for $350 at Dicks. These are our first boats and we are pleased with the quality and the service at Dicks Sporting Goods.

Great kayak for the price,...

Great kayak for the price, comfortable, tracks really well. Only giving it an 8 because the padding around the cockpit could be fastened better and there's really no good spot to tie it down the the truck. The handles are simply plastic tied to the kayak with a small piece of nylon rope. A rigid handle alone would earn this yak a 9.5.

After struggling with his old Kayak, my husband broke down and finally got him one that he can enjoy. I bought this because it is rated as a fishing Kayak. He liked this because it is a sit-in and it tracks so well in lake & calmer rivers, but also does well when the waves kick up a bit. He loves the roominess of the cockpit and the gear storage capabilities. He loves this kayak so much that we have been out every weekend since he got it! Had even caught some fish while using it! It is an amazing Yak, for sure.

This is a great Kayak! It...

This is a great Kayak! It is very stable and at 60 lbs is transportable for short distances. It is 12 ft long and 29 in wide, and comes in a couple of color choices. Mine is camouflage. It comes with two flush mount rod holders and a removable storage caddy in the back. It is easy to rig with other fishing accessories, such as forward mount rod holders, anchor trolly, fish finder mount and whatever else you need to get out and catch fish.

This 12' boat is very...

This 12' boat is very stable, easy to handle, and not very fast. The large open cockpit is nice for my dog and I to explore flat water and gentle currents. It is rated to be able to carry 500 lbs so it would be a very good choice for big people or people who need to carry a lot of fishing/camping gear.

Mine is my first kayak and it has been great for me to get started with. I even paddled it for about 50 miles on the Hudson River. It did great even in rough water. I supplement the boat with extra flotation when doing big water.

The boat feels comfortable on all day excursions. After 1 season of hard use, on of the plastic rivets that holds the knee pads in place has broken and one of the pegs for holding the paddle when not in use has broken off.

I wish I could do rolls and go faster, but that will be for my next boat.

This kayak was purchased...

This kayak was purchased as a gift for me after completing chemotherapy during a bout with testicular cancer. Overall I'm very pleased with the design, the sleek shape makes for effortless paddling and there is ample storage room. The adjustable foot rests are a nice feature as well as multiple paddle holders. I found it to be very stable and extremely easy to move on dry land being it is very light.

The only real drawback was the front mounted cup holder, which is not deep enough to support the average spring water bottle, basically when you begin to paddle you will topple it in to the boat or water.

But all in all a solid kayak. Light weight, sturdy and very comfortable. Excellent for beginners and moderate kayakers. I would recommend it for a day trip, light paddling in calm waters and moderate currents. Integrated fishing pole holders behind the cockpit also are a plus if fishing is your pleasure.
