This was my first paddle fiberglass paddle. Up until this purchase I used two aluminum paddles. The Cannon Nokomis is far lighter than my first two. It is not by far the last paddle I will purchase, but I am very happy with its performance, comparatively speaking. I was fortunate enough to get a great deal at Camillus Kayak. I thought $100 was more than fair after holding it for a minute or two. Specs say it is 34ozs, all I know is it is light, comfortable and sturdy and light years ahead of the aluminum shafted paddles. I use it for rec kayaking, fairly flat water, maybe three hours or so each trip. For now, it is perfect for my needs and will easily do the intended job until I purchase a longer, narrow kayak(currently in a 12' CD Kestrel) and of course a carbon fiber paddle.

Love this paddle, I picked up the fiberglass version for $100. This is one of the lightest paddles I have found in this price range. It has a great blade design, and the 230 works well for me in a high or low angle style, what I really like is that it does not have the control hand alteration to the grip, just a smooth round shape the length of the shaft. Bites nice into the water and pulls the kayak nicely, the paddle exit is up to the paddler. This rating is based solely on a paddle for casual rec paddling.

After being extremely pleased with the value, quality, and performance of my Cannon Wave aluminum paddle, I decided to go upscale and get the Nokomis carbon paddle.

The 28 ounce Nokomis is an incredible value. The quality far exceeds anything else in its class/price range. I looked at it's competitors that were up to 50% more in price, and the Nokomis beats them on all counts, including the clean design, how the carbon shaft joins the carbon blade without any funky tape around the joint.

Paddle performance: no flex, flutter, just smooth propulsion. I couldn't be more pleased. Finally, the customer service of Cannon is unbeatable.

I have the Cannon Nokomis paddle and it is the lightest I have seen for $89. I am going back to buy one for my wife. A+
