Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/2/2016
Just brought the paddle board home from the store. I had it on racks holding it it in place with ratchet straps. Once I took the paddle board down from the car there was indents where the straps were. Pros Cons Made cheaply if ratchet straps indent the plastic after a 10 minute ride. Very disappointing for the price. Usage

We have an annual membership to a paddling club. This is the board my wife usually gets. This is a decent general purpose board, but my wife is fairly athletic and out grew it fairly quickly. Pros Low cost, easy to paddle Cons while not unstable, the Ace-tech is more stable. not as efficient to paddle. Usage Recreational, SUP, family fun

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 4/29/2016
No wonder the Dura-tec 10'4 has been the fast-selling board on the shop I worked at. It represents the whole demographics of our customers whether be it beginner or advanced rider, young or young at heart. I was able to brought one on a town south paddling around on the mangroves on a bliss. Not to mention the fun I had and the spectators did when I was riding it through the boat wake. Pros Versatility, all around for curious beginners at the same time it responds well to experienced SUP enthusiasts. Cons No other available colors? Usage Tourism, exercise and surf

The DURA-TEC 10'4 is a great board, made with great quality. This board is great for beginners and experts because of the grip it will provide, the amazing stability, and it's perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Pros The griping, stability, quality, and the awesome look of the board Cons My personal board doesn't have safety clip to wrap around the ankle. Usage I use it for races, exercise, and chilling on the lake for summer.

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 3/8/2016
The Bic 10'4 is my first sup. I tried lots of makes and different constructions and for my weight height and intended use decided this was the best for Quality / Price / Construction. Its a great board to get on the water when there is not enough wind to windsurf or waves for proper surfing. Being on the heavier side of its intended rider weight i am sure this helps in waves. A great board and will soon be back on the water this year. Pros Value, Solid construction, great carrying handle, fun, Cons Weight could be a problem for some people but then they could be on a smaller lighter board Usage This board is great for keeping fit / exercise and getting out into smaller slow clean 2 to 3 ft waves when windsurfing or surfing is not an option

Submitted by: ewnash on 2/3/2016
Great mid-size SUP for small-to-average paddlers. My 5'4", 130 pound, 50 year old wife can handle and car-top the board without much trouble (loves the integrated carry handle) and found it to be quick and extremely stable on the water. Construction is nearly bomb-proof- good, solid shell with foam core for manageable weight. Hard to beat this board for the price! Pros Tough construction, super-stable on the water, good value for a lower-priced board Cons Could be a shade lighter, traction pad could cover a bit more space toward the nose Usage Recreational paddling, exercise, occasional surf but mostly flat water

Submitted by: Rose505bud on 8/26/2015
This is a great recreational board! It's super durable and stable, as long as you have the correct length for your weight. I use this board for my 120 pound frame to float meandering rivers and in lakes during camping trips. Pros Durable she'll, stable. Great price for its value. Cons Usage Recreational. Rivers (calm and class II whitewater) and lakes.

This is my first board, I bought it mostly to play on the ocean and surf with it. I really enjoy the board and like that I don't have to worry too much about it when it hurts something. Pros cheaper than most, feels pretty solid and sturdy Cons heavy, stickers started peeling off after a few uses Usage lake or ocean touring, surfing

An excellent board for beginners! We use these boards for our summer camp programs for kids and teens. They do just fine on almost any of the boards, even the 9' boards. Easy to handle and tracks reasonably straight, though I wouldn't call it a touring board. Pros Cons Usage

Branded as a Tiga 10'4", but seems to be the same as the BIC. great 1st board, stiff enough for the MD creeks and small ocean surf, easy to carry, love the integrated handle. Got a great deal for under $600 Pros stability, durability Cons none yet Usage touring, creek fun with family

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 5/10/2015
I learned how to SUP on this board and it was a good beginner board. I paddle board on lakes in the upper midwest region and was looking for another water sport when the days were calm with not enough wind to windsurf. Pros i liked the board's stability which was true even in semi-choppy conditions. I also liked that it seemed to track satisfactorily once I got the paddle technique figured out and how to go in a straight line. Cons I didn't like the weight - it was pretty heavy; I think about 35+ pounds. I also wanted something with more performance capability. I believe the hard plastic shell keeps it on the slow end of boards performance-wise. I ended up selling it and trading up to more of a performance board - a Slingshot 11". Usage I used the board for exercise and touring on lakes. It isn't really a race board by any stretch of the imagination.

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 3/12/2015
I fell in love with paddle boarding on this board. For fun, I signed my other half and I up for a class to see how we would like it and I have thought of going again every since. That was when we still lived in Oregon. Since moving out to Ohio for my work this past year, we have met a few fantastic people who also like to SUP and I can't wait to join them. I'm saving up enough to invest in a board and paddle of my own for this summer season. Pros The stability and turning were easy to get down and control. The padding on the board was extremely comfortable on my feet. Since it's a 10'4" board, I was a little intimidated of carrying it (I'm 5'4"). But, it was a breeze and I didn't feel like it was too heavy or large for me to handle by myself once I got it in my hands. Cons In the long run, I would like a board that has the capability of mounting a bag or bungees to it so I can go for longer rides. I expected to see the specific housing on the board that would allow that considering how long and wide it is. That would be the only draw back. Usage Touring only. Choosing a lake to explore. Being able to sit for a snack break and get back up and keep going.

Bic Dura-tec 10’ 4 Purchased…

Submitted by: jackdavidson on 1/28/2015
Bic Dura-tec 10’ 4 Purchased at West Marine. This is my first SUP board so I don’t have a lot to compare it with, other than ease of use for a noob. Sorry. Anyway, so far it seems tough, durable, relatively easy to get up on, fairly lightweight (at least compared to kayaks, which I am familiar with). Although it can still be slippery (I fell off the first three times getting up, my wife fell more, my son only falls when he wants to screw around), the diamond grooves definitely help you get a grip. At 175 lbs I’m kind of near the top end for this board, but my wife and son can also paddle it, too. So far only flatwater, but I’m hoping to challenge it a little more this year. I’m sorry this isn’t a more informative review. Pros Easy to use, durable Cons none yet Usage exercise, screwing around on a lake

I enjoyed this board during Paddleboard Yoga out in the St. Andrews Bay. It is an excellent multipurpose board. Pros It balanced well and handled mild waves coming at it from all angles. Cons I would have liked for the traction piece to be 1 large piece for yoga but it is fine for standing or kneeling and paddling. Usage Exercising, mild surf, leisure paddling, maybe more as I get more creative with it.

Submitted by: drab on 7/19/2014
I bought a pari of these for my daughters to use in the lake behind my parent's house. The kids take them out when they have friends over. For that situation they are great. Very durable, and just don't have to worry about it. It does get little dents in the plastic relatively easy. They are purely cosmetic. You don't have to worry about cracks and dings that might need attention. I weigh just under 180 and can use it, though it does sink down pretty low. Pros Durable, Not expensive Cons Heavy, dents Usage Playing around in the lake. A glorified swim toy.

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/10/2014
Bought this board to use pretty much all around. I've had it out on flat water a few times, and am hoping to take it on some slow moving water soon. It seems pretty stable, and I'm pushing the max weight limit. Had it recently at the lake for a family picnic, and it was used from the youngest kid, 8, up to a 49 year old man, and everyone in between. Pros Not super heavy Wide and stable Seems pretty durable, kids ran into some rocks and it didn't scratch or anything Cons Cargo straps in the front would be nice Usage Used it touring on flat water so far

Rented a BIC SUP paddle board…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/6/2014
Rented a BIC SUP paddle board at the Westin Resorts on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It was Thursday, July 3, 2014 and a tropical storm was due in late in the evening. It turned out to be Hurricane Arthur. which ended up landing north at Hatteras and Nags Head, North Carolina. Pros It was very easy to get on to the board in deep water and was able to get through big waves to get out to the deeper water. It was my first time on a paddle board and I found it difficult to stand up and maintain my balance against the waves. However, I was able to kneel and paddle through very high waves without falling off. Cons It was difficult to handle in big waves and winds after riding ashore, but probably would have been much better with less wind and smaller waves. Also, since I spent most of my time on two knees on the board my knees started to get a little sore. Usage 4 hours on surf.

I actually rented this board in Cozumel for a couple of hours. It was VERY heavy and hard to handle, plus it seemed a bit difficult to find the sweet spot. Pros It is a very durable SUP board. Cons Too heavy. Hard to handle, and not as buoyant as I thought it should be. Usage exercise and just cruising around the Cozumel lagoon

I recently tried this board out. As a beginner I found it comfortable and easy to handle. It is not the fastest board out there but pretty good for flat water and rivers and for folks working on beginner technique. Pros Cons Usage Exercise and some light touring.

SOLID board to say the least! If you are looking for a really well-rounded, versatile, and very durable board, this is the one for you! Also really good for rentals as well! You won't be dissapointed with this board if you are looking for an entry to intermediate level board. It is also surprisingly light for how durable it is! Pros Durable Nice price Smooth riding Stable Frame Cons A tiny bit heavy if compared to some other boards Usage Touring and Exercise!

I rented the board while visiting the Keys, Islamarada, Florida. The board was light and easy to maneuver but when in the channel it was harder to keep it balanced especially when there was boat traffic. Pros I liked the storage bungee cord on the front of the board and lightness of the board. Cons It was unsteady in a currents and boat traffic where a wider board was not. Usage Touring

This is a great board for all levels of paddlers, providing a smooth ride and a stable platform for those windy days out on the lake. I like the durable construction and overall style of the Bics Pros Stability, durability and balance Cons Foot grip pad stains easily Usage Recreational paddling, and exercise

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 4/21/2014
These boards are made like the traditional acs surfboards: very robust and heavy. The board is built to last and take a beating. The buoyancy is great, and this particular board has a decent rocker and well formed nose which helps when cutting trough or ridding waves. Overall, it is a decent board for the price (800 dollars or so). Like its surf predecessors, one can loan it out to a friend and not worry about the board. It is very stable and great to play around on with friends who lack an innate predilection for the water. My one complaint about the board and most all Bic acs boards is that it pressure dings way too easily, it is more of a cosmetic issue than anything else since it doesn't affect the board's performance. Good board overall. Pros Buoyant, somewhat maneuverable. versatile. Cons Heavy, pressure dings way too easily. Usage Ocean, lake, bay, rivers with class 1 rapids, messing around with friends on a warm lazy day.

An ultra durable, fun and stable entry to the world of sup. The bic is as at home in the waves as it is on the flat and solid platform for the paddle out. Pros The bic has a sensible price tag, without feeling as delicate as other sups on the market. Cons Its a little on the heavy side. Usage Exersise, surf.

Submitted by: Ravenlocks on 6/11/2012
Recently purchased the BIC SUP 10'4 to get into the sport of SUP. The price was right/was marked down nearly 1/2 off the retail price due to small manufacture flaws from a local dealer-which have NOT interferred with use/performance. Have used it (2) times thus far. Once on flat water & once on a more choppy day. Was able to quickly master it/balance without falling. Able to paddle straight/lean into turns & beginning to do maneuvers such as yoga & standing on the tail to elevate the nose. Pros Price. Ease of use for a beginner/stability. Maneuverability. Size/weight for transport. Cons Found that the fin tangles while paddling in weedy bays & makes paddling difficult. Will be getting a replacement fin specifically to aid in paddling in weedy areas. Usage Flatwater touring. Surfing on windy days.
