Trip Overview

And friend and I floated the Houston Levee road to Germantown Road section of the Wolf River this morning. I was expecting a 7.1 mile float that'd take around 3 hours. Ended up 4.99 miles and 1.75 hours. The pros: - Relatively easy. - Relatively quick. - Relatively quiet. - Waterfall. - Nice big beaches. You could throw a serious party here. I'd love to camp along this section! The cons: - Access point directions on Conservancy site are wrong. Coming from Walnut Grove on Houston Levee the access point is to the left on the south side of the bridge. Not the North side. - Access point is directly under bridge with rocks partially covered with mud. It's not bad, but it is steep and you need to make sure you have solid footing or you could fall. - The float is easy if you know what you're doing. The first mile has numerous obstacles to navigate. Rocks, trees, and branches. I'd love to add this section to the tail end of the Collierville Arlington section or the front end of the Germantown Road section.

Safety Notes

There are numerous obstacles in the river for the first mile. Please be mindful of this. The access point is very steep with lots of rocks. Please pay attention and make sure you have good footing.
