Winchester Lake in Connecticut

Trip Overview

This was an unexpectedly nice flatwater paddle. Very little development, I think 3 houses, 2 of which are out of sight. There was a good breeze coming towards us, but we stayed out of it due to the nooks and crannies on the west side of the lake. This lake appears to have been forest that was dammed and flooded, as there are tree stumps all over the lake. Mountain laurel all around lake was pretty. Saw one beaver, not much for wildlife, but saw a lot of fish. Water is quite clear. Good alternate to Bantam River which gets overcrowded on weekends.
