Trip Overview

The North Fork of the White River has its charms, including a couple of small springs that are right along the banks and into which you can pull you canoe/kayak and/or swim (See photo).

Most of it lies within the Mark Twain National Forest, but there is some private property along the banks, including the place I tent camped, the River of Life Farm. They had some nice looking cabins, too.

Accommodations:

River of Life Farm (ROLF) has a general store, canoe/kayak rentals, camping sites and cabins.

Fees:

ROLF charges for its accommodations.

Directions:

From Springfield, Mo., take Hwy 60 east 67 miles to Mountain Grove. Then go south on Hwys. 95, W, 14 and 181 to Dora, Mo., (35 miles) then seven more miles south to where 181 intersects with Route H and Route 372. Go East on Route 372 1 mile, then south on 365 two miles to ROLF entrance.
