Care to go wine tasting at Michigan’s stellar wineries? How about a kayak tour on Grand Traverse Bay? Can’t commit to a whole weekend? This Water-to-Wine Wine Tasting Kayak Tour is the best of many worlds; you get to learn a bit of kayak technique (something to show-off later), paddle on Grand Traverse Bay, do a little gourmet beach dining, followed up by private wine-tasting at a couple of the best boutique wineries. The beach meals have been featured in Traverse Magazine (MyNorth.com), with recipes available from their cookbook: "Hey, I’d Eat This at Home!" Meet-up at the Mapleton Market/Peninsula Grill. From there you'll travel to one of two launch points (depends on weather) and then onto wineries after the kayak/lunch portion.
Sample menus: Fruit and cheese plate followed by pan seared local Whitefish filet and signature Michigan Slaw made with dried cherries and toasted pecans or sautéed Lemon/Garlic/Pinot Gris Shrimp and Asparagus over Asiago Polenta. If these don’t fit your tastes, they can build something special just for you – special diets are no problem as long as you give advance notice.
Your Guides are trained ACA instructors with great local knowledge and a fine complement of safety gear including VHF radio. You'll find that they are also talented paddling chefs!
All Group gear provided is top quality. Uncommon Adventures provides a variety of single and double cockpitted touring kayaks. Life Jackets are new MTI models...and yes, you will wear them.
Plans are made depending on weather conditions and what you feel like doing. Its your trip and Uncommon Adventures can always find a great place to take you paddling in almost any weather, but if the trip does not run due to weather, you do not get charged.
