A nice river cruise starting just above the dam at Thiensville Village Park. Starting off in the somewhat wide impoundment above the dam, the river is lined with (very nice) houses. These taper off and pretty much disappear as the river narrows and enters a series of parks and nature areas on either side. There seem to be a lot of pontoon boats moored on the banks, but no-wake zones are plentiful and everybody seemed courteous today.
Safety Notes
The put in is just above the dam. If the river is high currents might be tricky getting in or out. If so, go upriver about 1.25 miles to Villa Park for more protected launches.
Conditions
Flat and calm, novice friendly except when the river is high.
Portage Notes
You can launch below the dam after a short portage.
