Trip Overview
This is a narrow beautiful stretch of river. The north bank is largely a mitigation area owned by NC DOT, which means it is swampland. We saw a mink, 2 deer very closeby and lots of birds. The downside was that there were 10-20 portages around downed trees. We could go under a few and around the ends of others but at times we dragged the boats a ways through the woods to get around multiple trees. This 7 mile stretch took us about 4 hours.
The put-in at Green Sea Bridge is easy, with an off-road place to park and a very friendly dog.
Portage Notes
Some are easy, some harder.
