Trip Overview

Rocks around the shore, no sandy place to put in your kayak. Water was nice, not too many motor boats or jet skis.

Concrete ramp, small dock.

It was ok, I would go out of my way to do it again.

Don't go for camping or pull back trailer at the South Holston Lake Camp Ground.

Accommodations:

The camp grounds are the worst, not a flat spot of ground. Water and restrooms were 300 yards away. You basically were setting up your camp on the side of a hill and if it rains you'll never get out without 4 wheel drive cause it would turn into a mud mess.

Don't go for over night camping!!! Oh, and no refund after you pay, even if you come back 5 minutes later to tell them you don't want to stay.

Outfitting:

Epic 16x's, Flyer wing paddles by FastKayak

Fees:

$18 a night; their website said water and electric on site but there isn't any for tent camping.

Directions:

18482 County Park Road, Abingdon VA

- GPS on your phone will take you right to it.
