Siam Lake in Tennessee

Trip Overview

Siam Lake is a great place for paddling, located about a 15-minute drive from Elizabethton here in the corner of NE Tennessee. It is formed by the Watauga and Siam dams on the Watauga River. Most notable about it is the almost complete lack of powerboats - because this lake is very small (it only takes about 1 hour to go from one end to the other), motorboats generally don't put in here very often. There are several Beaver dams that you can paddle right up to, scenic cliffs and a waterfall, and a couple of nice places to simply put out and eat your lunch. A local kayaking place takes beginners up there for learning.
