Trip Overview

My wife, 4 year old son and I set out for a quiet water paddle on Sadagwa pond in Whitingham VT. The launch is about 1/4 mile south of route 100 and is very easy. Sadagwa pond has wonderful views of the White Mountains, and the Searsburg Windmill project presents an interesting backdrop. Bass were jumping, and we got to paddle within 25 feet of a Blue Heron resting on the "floating island" which "Quiet Water" describes at sphagnum, but is more like floating brush.

All in all, this pond is a nice and peaceful place to take the family for an afternoon paddle.
