Trip Overview
We paddled from the RT83 (Madison St ) access which is easy to use and launch, and ended in the Isle La Cache (Will County Forest Preserve). Trip was about 8.5 miles, took a little over 3 hours. Few people (2 paddlers and 1 fisherman) but good wildlife. Saw about dozen turtles, s lot of big birds and 14 snakes. The snakes seemed to love my bright yellow kayak-saw 14 of them, some swimming in the river and a bunch by the Lemont RR Bride area. There is a nice rock ledge to get out and stretch a minute, this was snake central. They were all northern water snakes. Easy paddle, no obstructions. Some side ponds, ditches to paddle up and explore. The take out is easy and safe and well marked.
