Riversedge to John Hutto Park

A self-supported trip created by theguy1991

Trip Overview

Total time was 4 hours. Started at Riversedge campground. Takes about 2 hours to get to Adam's Mill bridge. There's small rapids and it's mostly pretty shallow. Very easy and fun trip to Adam's Mill. Once you pass Adam's Mill you'll have to dodge downed trees, debris, and the current/rapids pick up quite a bit. I don't think many people kayak this stretch. There's a particular tree that covers nearly the whole creek and I thought "oh great I'm screwed", but I was able to squeeze by on the right side. When you run into the other creek the current slows and it widens out. It's smooth sailing to John Hutto boat ramp in Newton from there. There's some more light rapids towards the end though. From Adam's Mill to John Hutto is another 2 hours. I didn't see much wildlife except for the cranes and 3 hawks. I'd definitely do this trip again though.

Safety Notes

Downed trees and branches.
