Trip Overview
13 miles. This was a hard 6 hour paddle. There were 3 epic (aka permanent) log jams that required portages around along with several smaller tree blockages. No developed launch in Palmyra, nice boat ramp in Blissfield. Launching (or taking out) at the Crockett Hwy bridge south of Palmyra would shorten the trip considerably. We spotted a bike at the takeout - nice 4 mile ride on Driggs Rd to the put-in.
Not a frequented section of the river, not developed. Very few houses on the river, just the edges of farm fields.
We saw 4-5 bald eagles, 20 turkeys, herons, ducks, and lots of deer.
Portage Notes
Need to portages around log jams - there is poison ivy so footwear is recommended.
