Red River in Tennessee

Trip Overview

We launched at the public access on Red River in Adams TN at 3:00 Sunday evening; it was a great float 7.4 miles of scenic Red River, a few class 1 and 2 rapids along the way.

This stretch of the Red is deeper and several great pools for swimming along the way we could easily turned this into a long float but due to time limits for some we paddled the 7.4 mile stretch in 2 hr 30 min arriving at Port Royal State Park (which, I might add, if you leave your truck there remember they close the gates at sundown).

There is Redriver Valley Canoe Rental there if you don't have your own boat. We were riding in a Mad River Canoe and a Quest 14' three seater.
Very scenic waterfalls and several caves along the way

Accommodations:

None along the river, but there is Redriver Valley Canoe Rental there that will be more than happy to shuttle you or take you up river
