Trip Overview

Piedmont Lake was a pleasant surprise for a day trip. It is a very quiet 2300 acre lake that sits down in wooded rolling hills. It has a lot of bays and some marsh at the end of the bays. The Ohio DCNR only allows max of 10hp engines on boats and we only seen a few fisherman out with those and most of the time they were at anchor fishing. We found a great place for lunch, a point sticking out into the lake that sat up so we had a great view of the lake. We were out most of the day and could have even spent more time. We were the only kayak out, not even a canoe or sailboat. For a Saturday, it was real quiet and the weather was beautiful.

Accommodations:

Not too much right around the lake, you would have to go to Cadiz to probably find accommodations.

Directions:

Route 70 west of Wheeling, WV, take exit 202, route 800 north until you see a sign that say's boat launch and follow that road.
