Pearl River in Mississippi

Trip Overview

Pearl River - Columbia, MS to Poplarville, MS

If you want to do a close to home paddle, with little trouble, THIS IS YOUR TRIP. However, be prepared for overnight camping!! We put in at the bridge in Columbia and planned on taking out at a camp in Poplarville. I say planned, because I did not plan on this paddle being so lengthy!!

This is a 10-11 hour trip. We paddled for a straight 8 hours before beaching due to the sun setting. The river had a nice current in places and still in others.

The wildlife was abundant and we only saw two flat boats on the river the whole time. We felt like we owned the river! There were tons of sandy beaches, and pebble beaches. A beautiful river for so close to home!
