The most unique kayak trip on Akanan and Carrao rivers. This wonderful adventure take place in Canaima National Park located in Venezuela. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is considered the sixth largest national park in the world. Its steep cliffs and its waterfalls (including the Angel Falls, which is the highest waterfall in the world at 978 m) form spectacular landscapes.
The first night is in Kavak, where you will stay in a gorgeous Logde in the base of The Auyantepuy. The next 3 days you will be paddling downstream staying in established campsites, sleeping in hammocks and one night in tents. To reach Angel fall you have to take an Indian motorized boat upstream through the Churum river, staying 2 days, contemplating this magnificent place. You have 1 more day paddling to Orquidea Island. The last day the motor boat will bring us to Canaima campsite to visit the Frog waterfall, the Canaima Lagoon and enjoy the last night in a beautiful Lodge.
The river have some rapids class I or Class I+, but depending of the water level some people can be nervous, or your safety could be compromised, in all rapids there is a dry exit available to avoid it.
Because of National Park regulations, there will be an Indian motorized boat along, just in case someone get tired or need assistance. You must bring the life jacket on the water. The medical assistance is at least two days away, so prevention is the key for your safety.
The weather is hot during the day, the night are fresh, the water is warm, is common rainy days, there are mosquitoes, so, bring light clothes for day, dry and comfortable clothes for nights, wet shoes, hat, rain jacket and insect repellent.
The best time of the year for this trip is in the raining season, you need high water level to reach the waterfall base, that means the weather could be wet some time.
