60 degrees and sunny on a weekend in December?! Bonnie and I had to take out the kayaks. We wanted a close destination and the Olentangy answered the call. We set in just a bit north of powell and had our car waiting for us just by the 161 bridge near the Worthington high school. It was quiet on the river and only started to see people when we went by Highbanks Metro Park. There's a pretty constant stream of cars driving by if you are on the river during rush hour. Surprisingly, there were some challenging rapids scattered throughout our entire journey. Wildlife was out in full force. We saw one deer, lots of bluejays, and a blue herring. Bring some extra clothes because you'll probably get wet.
