Trip Overview

We paddled from Stockport OH to Marietta OH on the Muskingum River spent the night and I left my truck at Stockport. Still no potable water at the lock even though the river trail map says they do have water.

We ate breakfast at CJ's Family Restaurant (http://www.menupix.com/ohio/restaurants/350002984/C-Js-Family-Restaurant-Stockport-OH). It was great; cash only got lots of coffee refills.

Quiet night at Stockport and I left my truck for 4 days and it was never bothered. We paddled to Luke Chute which is the nicest campground on the river and it was quiet and had potable water; meet the guy who lives just on the left as your walking out of the lock driveway. He is the nicest guy and his cat became accidentally caught in one of our lures and he helped us get the cat out of the lure and couldn't have been nicer.

We then paddled to Beverly, OH and ate dinner at the Dough Boyz pizza place which is just 2 blocks from the lock and it was great. We walked to the IGA which has excellent supplies and got ice cream at the McDonald's. When we returned from eating a kid who constantly spits though his teeth was fishing near our boats and our Carabiners were missing so watch your gear in Beverly.

In the morning we locked through the locks are closed on Tues and Wed. but that's not posted on the lock sheds. We paddled to Lowell which as a super long channel to the lock and set up camp. The camp ground had 2 broken TVs which we put in the trash.

We walked to PJ and K drive in (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=lowell+oh+restaurants&fb=1&gl=us&hq=restaurants&hnear=Lowell,+OH&cid=17302059601957515761) for ice cream but they close at 7pm so we walked to Dollar General which has lots of supplies and a good grocery section and we bought pints of Breyers and a package of spoons and had some great ice cream and cooled off as it was heat advisory day. We played cards and went to bed.

At 3 am we were awakened by some one running on the bridge that spans over the lock and in the morning we found rocks and a golf ball had been thrown at our camp from above. In the morning we paddled to Marietta and pulled out and enjoyed ice cream in downtown Marietta. We ended with 8 paddlers and had great weather
