Moss Creek Lake in Texas - Weekend Trip Report

Trip Overview

This was a great weekend! It was just a father daughter affair. My daughter had been asking for some time to take her paddling, by herself, just the two of us. We headed out Saturday morning for Moss Creek Lake just a little ways southeast of Big Spring Texas. This lake sits right around the 450 acre mark, yes, that is small, but for a 6yr old first-timer, it was an ideal place to take her first strokes.

She took to paddling a kayak like most teenage girls take to shopping at the mall. I towed her the first several hundred yards, just so she could get a good feel of the boat, how it responds in the water and I think the safety line gave her just a little extra security knowing she was tied to daddy only 12 short feet away. Her confidence, like turning on a light, just shot through the roof and she made it real clear dad had better get her a paddle and free her boat, it was time.

Her technique is new, and her stroke is rough, but all in all she paddled like a little pro.

SHE MADE DADDY SO PROUD! She's already planning for the next time we hit the water.
