Milwaukee River in Wisconsin

Trip Overview

Spring is the best time to do this trip. The entire paddle if you push takes about 2 hours. Or you can take your time, fish or sight see (Whitetail, racoons, Great Horned Owls were all sighted on this trip).

It was a glorious day; about 70 degrees, slight overcast with occasional bursts of sunlight. It is amazing that this kind of wilderness is right in our back yard. (There is an airport along the way that provided a bit of man-made noise, but you will still be surprised). You can canoe this portion, although we prefer kayaks.

There was one area that when the water gets lower, might be impassible in a canoe, without a short portage.

Accommodations:

The park on 33 is right in town, while the one on M has a portable toilet once Spring is fully arrived.

Fees:

None

Directions:

We put in just below the dam on Hwy 33 in West Bend. There is a small park there and room for parking a vehicle. We parked our other vehicle on 33 and M at a small park there.
