Trip Overview

We left the dock at Oyster Park in Bluffton SC and crossed over to the sand beach on a small sandbar. We had lunch there while exploring the sandbar. We then headed out (right) and kept close to the left shore around the small islands. We saw a lot if dolphin and coastal birds. The dolphin were within a couple of feet from us. It was nice because some of the areas are shallow so no big boats to worry about. It took about an hour to an hour and a half to go around a few of the small islands so it was not a tough trek. Lots of beauty and wildlife.

Safety Notes

When coming around the islands the water is shallow at low tide. We hit bottom a couple times in the pluff mud.

Gear Notes

9.5 Swifty Perception Kayak

Conditions

Breezy at 12 mph. Water was rougher when not protected by the islands.
