Loxahatchee North Fork Jupiter Florida

A self-supported trip created by gatorpaddler22

Trip Overview

Best paddle near suburbia. Start at River Bend Park in Jupiter. You can take the river all the way to the Intracoastal and end at Johnathan Dickinson State park. the full trip can have several portages due to hurricanes and down trees. The entire trip takes you through many eco zones from total fresh water to salt. Most people take the trip on the river to the second dam water fall and have lunch then paddle upstream from where you began. Another good turnaround spot is at Trapper Nelsons, a historic site where Trapper Nelson use to have a Zoo and traded with local native indians. The cypress trees back in this area are ancient and beautiful. The river is full of fish including snook and bass so bring a rod. Gators, deer, and lots of birds of prey.

Safety Notes

Enjoy big gators from a safe distance.

Conditions

Water is usually flowing slowly North and east but big rains can make return trips a little longer.

Portage Notes

Depends on how far you go and if there have been recent storms/hurricanes. The trip to the second waterfall has none.
