Little Muskegon River in Michigan

Trip Overview

This was one of the most beautiful trips that I have taken on an afternoon canoe trip. We started out the trip by putting in just below the Morley dam.

It was really interesting and neat as we had our picnic at the park where we put in watching all the Amish people going by in their buggies.

The river was amazing, it was mostly quiet. There were a few spots where we caught ground, but Jen and I never needed to get out of the boat. Several spots had trees that had fallen and we needed to do some ducking, but neither blocked the way to the point where we needed to portage.

While on the water we saw a lot of wildlife. There was a great Blue Heron that skirted in front of us much of the day. A baby deer white spots and all sat quietly just feet from shore as we quietly floated by. Several other birds helped make the sights of the river truly amazing.

We came out just west of Long Rd under the bridge. Both in Morley and on Long Road there seemed to be parking available along the side of the road.
