Lefleur's Bluff State Park in Mississippi

Trip Overview

Lovely little lakes in the heart of Jackson. Perfect place to learn to paddle- smooth water, interesting shady swampy ends with cypress trees, lots of wildlife and birds. No motor boats allowed; paddlers and trolling motors only. Felt very safe here as a lone paddler- regular drive-throughs by staff. For the more adventuresome, there is a boat ramp into the Pearl River that you can access at a reduced rate. Beware, you can only go upstream due to the lowhead dam .4 miles downstream.

Accommodations:

Picnic and camping facilities onsite.

Fees:

Gated with boating admission fee of $7 or annual pass of $40.

Directions:

Address: 3315 Lakeland Terrace, Jackson, MS 39216

Mayes Lake Campground and Day Use Area is located on Lakeland Terrace off of Lakeland Drive.
Directions: From I-55 Exit 98 travel East on Lakeland Drive to Lakeland Terrace. Turn right on Lakeland Terrace. You will see a baseball complex west of the turn onto Lakeland Terrace.
Don't confuse this part of the park with the more well known portion on Riverside Drive where the museums are.
