Kintla Lake Glacier National Park

A self-supported trip created by Pertribe135

Trip Overview

Stunning scenery around this lake in the far north of Glacier National Park, very near the Canadian border. A few people at the launch near the campground at the south end of the lake. Even though it was Labor Day weekend, not many paddlers. Probably due to a long drive on gravel roads and a brisk breeze creating some light chop. Saw some osprey. An otter barked and chuffed at us from a tangle of driftwood on the shore near the north end of the lake, we couldn’t see it and didn’t know what it was. We described it to a ranger when we landed; he said they call it the laughing otter.

Safety Notes

The access roads to the lake after the town of Polebridge are narrow and winding, pretty much one lane
